Following a commitment of $40 million for a Youth Climate Corps (YCC) pilot program by the federal government, the proponents of this program want to hear from you—as local elected leaders—on how program delivery and community-based projects could best support municipal climate work.
The Youth Climate Corps is a bold initiative mobilizing young people to address the climate crisis while creating pathways to good-paying jobs, skills training, and stronger community resilience.
Following a brief overview of the YCC and the proposed implementation framework, you’ll have the opportunity to provide feedback and ideas that can shape the future of this country.
The call will be facilitated by Councillor Will Cole-Hamilton, who will share insights from the YCC project in Courtenay last summer, an initiative that was very well received and will be running again in 2026.
This call is open to current and former local elected leaders who are members of Climate Caucus. To become a member (free) sign up here or email olivia@climatecaucus.cawith any questions.
