Polluting Education

Open to School Trustees

Calling all school board trustees! Join us for a discussion on CAPE’s report Polluting Education: The Influence of Fossil Fuels on Children’s Education in Canada. The report reveals how oil and gas companies have funded and supplied misleading climate education to children across Canada. We’ll cover the scope of the issue, what steps school board trustees can take to address it, how other jurisdictions have banned fossil fuel sponsorships of school activities, and wrap up with a peer-supported discussion on barriers and solutions.

Speaker: Anne Keary, Ph.D.Anne is an independent scholar and climate advocate based in Toronto who believes that advancing climate education is a key climate solution. Anne serves on the Board of Environmental Education Ontario, is co-chair of Toronto Climate Action Network, and is an active member of the parent advocacy organization For Our Kids Toronto. She formerly served as Community Co-Chair of the Toronto District School Board’s Environmental Sustainability Community Advisory Committee. She now works for Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment as regional coordinator for Ontario and Manitoba.
