Kate works with Members and Subscribers to translate public opinion data into communications guidance that mobilizes key audiences. An expert in interpretive planning for museums, science centres, national parks and conservation organizations she knows how to shape narratives and design to engage specific segments of the public. In her spare time, Kate also leads Burnaby, B.C.’s, local chapter of For Our Kids, a national parent/caregiver-led climate organization. She has a BA in History and Anthropology from the University of Victoria and an MA in Museum and Heritage Management from England’s Nottingham Trent University.
EcoAnalytic’s Clean Cities Research project is exploring what residents of Canadian cities know about – and support, regarding — local climate policies and investments in public infrastructure and decarbonization of buildings and homes. In successive rounds of opinion research—surveys and focus groups — residents of major cities in BC and ON have described their concerns and perceived benefits and trade-offs related to these policies, and indicated which frames and messages they found most compelling in support of climate policies. In this brisk, interactive webinar EcoA will summarize its recent research and Re.Climate will offer practical guidance for municipal elected officials wishing to advance critical climate policies in a period of rampant misinformation and government hesitancy.

Amber is the Executive Director of Re.Climate. She is one of Canada’s top climate communication strategists and capacity builders. Amber works with groups across the country, bridging the gap between research and practice. She led the groundbreaking Alberta Narratives Project and supported much of the foundational work to pilot and build Re.Climate.
