SUMMARY:John Vaillant on Fire Weather
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a timely presentation and Q&A with bestselling author John Vaillant\, whose multi-award-winning Fire Weather offers a powerful lens into our rapidly changing relationship with fire—and the fossil fuel systems fueling it.\n\n\nAs communities across Canada face intensifying wildfires and climate-related disasters\, Vaillant’s work provides essential insight for all of us navigating this new reality. Fire Weather is both a gripping narrative and a deeply researched analysis of the forces shaping what many are calling our new “century of fire.” \nFollowing a talk and Q&A\, join us for an informal reception to meet other local elected leaders deeply passionate about keeping their communities safe in the face of changing climate realities. \nThis event is a part of the Elbows Up for Climate Summit\, an urgent convening of mayors and councillors from across the country on how we can collectively protect our communities from climate disaster and rebuild. \nAbout the speaker: \nJohn Vaillant is an internationally acclaimed author and journalist whose writing has appeared in The New Yorker\, The Atlantic\, National Geographic\, and The Walrus. His previous books\, including The Golden Spruce and The Tiger\, have earned major literary awards and global recognition. Fire Weather is a #1 national bestseller and recipient of the Baillie Gifford Prize.
